Kofa Site: Exit 45 on I-10, S 5 miles, W 300m. The first Leonid appeared at 00:04, crossing NE to SW and crossed 120 degree of the sky. Apparent activity peak was around 03:30-04:00. This might be due to a higher radiant rather than actual fact, which is why I said apparent. During the above peak period, one or more meteors could be seen where ever we looked. No formal or informal counting was done, but a ZHR of 1500 to 3000 is not out of the question (ZHR = Zenithal Hourly Rate). There were some lulls, but also occasions with three or more meteors visible at the same time. There was a lot of high cirrus of varying density. The amount sky visible varied from 30 to 60 percent. Some bright meteors could be seen even through the densest clouds. -Paul --- This message is from the AZ-Observing mailing list.
