[AZ-Observing] LAST CALL FOR MT. WILSON OBSERVING RUN

Deadline is fast approaching to make a reservation to be assured of the date
preferred which is May 7, a Saturday one day ahead of new moon. The alternative
date of June 4, a Satruday nearest the new moon, is also still available.
To date we have 7 persons confirmed and 3 maybe. If we get 9 the cost would be
$100 apiece but if we can get the maximum number of 15 that is reduced to $ 60
apiece. Total cost for an all night session is $ 900. Not all that bad for
use of a technician and a professional historic 60" telescope in a professional
observatory.
This is strictly observing some objects selected by the technician and some
listed by the observers if visible. Make a list! It is possible to take
digital or photos through the eyepiece but CCD's take too much time away from
other's observing time although it is permissible to do with your own
equipment.

Observing with the 60" tab, and then Visitor Information/Request forms tab for
all details.
I will handle the request forms and collect the money from each party to send
Mt. Wilson one check unless someone else would prefer to handle all this. A
self imposed confirmation deadline to me of January 16 is requested with
payment at the end of that week. First come first served until we get to the
cutoff of 15 participants. This is the best number so all can have equal time
observing each object throughout the night. More than that number gets a bit
hectic and less gets a bit expensive although doable with less participants.
I already have tentitive confirmation, unless there is a change in plans, from
Kimball Corson, D. Trogan, Bill Peters, Dave Taylor, Doug Simons, my son and
myself with possibles from Randy Peterson, Brian Workman and Rick Tejera. But
please do confirm for sure again as it is important to determine the exact
amount being split and so I can notify the amount needed from each. If I don't
hear from you I will presume you have decided not to participate. Individual
checks will not be cashed until all funds are in and I confirm by telephone
with Mt. Wilson as to the date still being available.
You will need to make you own travel arrangements (carpool, etc.),
accommodations, etc. Some may prefer to stay over and spend time sight seeing
elsewhere. And some may prefer to go over on a Saturday morning, rest in the
afternoon and rest the next morning before heading back to the valley. I will
make a list of those confirmed and their contacts so each can arrange something
to their desire.
