15480 Empire Rd. Benson, AZ 85602 hm ph: 520-586-2244 Correction, Tom, there are _three_ moon shadows (unless I'm seeing things!) on the surface of Jupiter, all different sizes. The middle one is the smallest, the preceding one is mid-size and the following one is the largest. I hope you (or someone else) are going to take an image. I really wish I had a tracking telescope with a camera! I am looking at them right now (about 8:10pm AZ time) with my 13- and 25-inch scopes. The seeing isn't wonderful, but it has its good moments. Our moon is showing lots of nice detail, too, since it is up higher where the seeing is better. I feel like Paul Lind where I just happen upon these events. It's exciting! Ganymede and Europa are very close to each other at the central meridian, followed by Europa's shadow and Ganymede's shadow, which is just entering the eastern limb. We will be able to follow the moon transits until 10 p.m., and Ganymede's shadow will be on the disc until 11:30 p.m. Tom -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. ____________________________________________________________ Find Bathroom Remodelers Get free estimates from top-rated bathroom contractors.
