Jupiter and Mercury will make their closest approach tonight, when they are
separated by about 2 degrees. It looks like the best view will happen between
7:00 and 7:20. My planetarium software shows Jupiter on the left at magnitude
-2.1and Mercury on the right at magnitude -0.9. Since the pair is located due
west, you can typically look straight down your street at a low horizon in
Phoenix.
