Two pieces of software that I would highly recommend would be K3CCDTools
_http://www.pk3.org/Astro/index.htm?software.htm_
(http://www.pk3.org/Astro/index.htm?software.htm)

and Registax _http://www.astronomie.be/registax/_
(http://www.astronomie.be/registax/) to operate your webcams including your
imaging source camera

For software DLL's and products to make webcams and DSLR's work better
would be Shoestring Astronomy _http://www.shoestringastronomy.com/_
(http://www.shoestringastronomy.com/)

and handy piece of AVI software can be found here.

last Stark Labs has some useful software

Your Netbook with its atom processor should be plenty of horsepower for
your imaging source camera. I've used my ST10XE with both CCDsoft and CCDops
and my Canon DSLR with imaging source software with my Toshiba netbook.

Hello Everyone,,

I was out playing with the new DFK 41AU02.AS camera on my C8 / PST combo.
As
the results were a bit disappointing I have some questions to those of you
who regularly use "planet cams".

1. What capture software is being used?
2. What is the spec of the laptop / PC? (i.e. - Intel core2 processor,
2 GB ram, XP)
3. On the PST I get strange diagonal, curving "wavelets" across the
image. Does anyone know what causes these?

Following some direction from Chris Schur, I used the end of a shorty
barlow
threaded on to the camera and can achieve focus on the PST but have a heck
of a time getting the exposure set as the capture software appears a bit
unstable (using the IC capture software that came with the camera) I feel
that the other issue is that I loaded the software and am running the
camera
with a Dell mini-9 laptop. It uses an "Atom" processor, which may not have
enough horsepower / correct architecture to get the job done. (though I use
it with a H9C camera and the images look great)

Aside from the points above and a trillion dust doughnuts on the images,
everything is fine ;-)

Any insight is welcome

Thank you,

Jimmy Ray
