Chris, Thanks for your comments. The setup has two major problems and needs redesign. First, the tube is very unstable with temperature. It's sonotube and was supposed to be temporary. Second, the focuser is a homemade job that provides a very fine resettable adjustment, but it rotates. It uses a large 40 tpi threaded collar with one revolution calibrated into 25 divisions, 0.001 inch each. It can be set to much better than 0.001. To use Images-Plus focusing I need a star in the exact center of the field because focusing rotates the field. I do use IP for camera control, and have also used the focus mode to read-out HFD. Focus is slow because I have to re-acquire the star each time.
