Happily, I found this not to be true at the Grand Canyon SP this year. He does get bored and cantankerous at times, which many attribute to his age, but this June at GCSP, either we did the impossible or he was in a very good mood, as he was all but ebullient in going around and seeing all there was to see and looking thru telescopes, even tho it was quite windy most of the time. He climbed the ladder at my 20" and got a thorough look at Jupiter. "What a show! What a show!" he exclaimed after viewing it, and then told me a story about his hat. But, wish #1, I coulda gotten him to sign my telescope and forgot, and #2, I coulda had my tape recorder on to record the story, but it was in the truck.
