David,
Nice job, and you are right. 3x4 degrees is 48 panels the size of the full moon.

Subject: [AZ-Observing] Had some Fun last night (imaging) and today
(processing)...
I am in the process of “re-Imaging†about 657 of the “older†images in
my library.
The main target for the “re-imaging†program last night, was a BIG one…
REALLY BIG… C-041, the Hyades Open Cluster.
It is classified as 330 ArcMin in size. This is generally understood to mean
330 x 330 ArcMin.
The FOV of my wide-field 80mm with the SBIG is 129 x 96 Arc Min. That’s
slightly larger than 2 x 1.5 degrees.
So… the plan. A 4-Panel Mosaic. That gives me an area about 4 x 3 degrees.
If your curious, the would be a field wide enough for 6 rows of 8 Full Moon…
that’s 48 Full Moons !!
And… that does not fully cover the field of C-041, The Hyades Open Cluster,
which currently is viewable in the evening a little below the Pleiades.
Well, it turned out reasonably well, as far as I was concerned.
I view my images as “documentary†of my observations, and thus, from time
to time, will add some notes to the images.
In this case, I added some star ID’s, and also a couple of “out of the
FOV†stars, and lastly, some constellation “stick figuresâ€â€¦ This was a
first !
But it was fun.
