o camp at the Grand Canyon Cavern the weekend of Sept. 30--Oct. 2, 2016 for an
impromptu star party. Anyone is welcome to show up. You will need to arrange
your own lodging, meals, travel, entertainment, etc. There are no registration
forms, fees, or any formal structure. HDAC is not responsible for your safety!!!
The Grand Canyon Caverns are located on the longest contiguous stretch of
historic Rte. 66 remaining, about 10 miles West of Seligman, Az. and 20 miles
East of Peach Springs. Local attractions are: the only 1 day whitewater rafting
trip through the Grand Canyon, the village of Supai; accessible only by hiking,
horseback, or helicopter, the town of Seligman, the caverns (you can do the
normal tourist tour or a real spelunking tour). The Grand canyon Cavern is
located at: Lat. 35-30'-59", Long. 113-13'-14", at an elevation of 5547'. The
caverns, at this time of year, Â typically have day temps in the low to mid
80's, nights can get below freezing but are typically in the 40's with
excellent seeing/transparency, 5% humidity, stable atmosphere, and SQM readings
21.4/21.5, with some nights 21.8.
