A Grand Rim Adventure with Grand
                              Canyon Field Institute

A Grand Rim Adventure will share the compelling
stories of the canyon's rocks, plants, animals, landmark structures and
colorful historic characters--all told against the spectacular backdrop of the
canyon itself. And if you are lucky you just may have encounters with
California condors, desert bighorn sheep, flowering plants, and perhaps even a
rainbow or two!

Grand Canyon Association is excited to announce A
Grand Rim Adventure, a daily half-day walking tour led by our expert Grand
Canyon Field Institute instructors, available for same day booking, from June
13 to August 31.

A Grand Rim Adventure is an ideal option for
families with children, adults not interested in hiking below the rim, anyone
visiting the park for a single day or less, or even for hardy backcountry types
who are seeking a more leisurely but enriching experience.

With a maximum of 10 participants per tour, this
3.5-hour walk begins daily at 1 p.m. Reservations can only be made in person at
in Verkamp's Visitor Center (just east of El Tovar Hotel) in Grand Canyon
Village, up to seven days prior to one's desired tour date.

                              Celebration of Art

The Grand Canyon Celebration of Art, features
thirty artists in a plein air competition, exhibition and sale. This event was
established to raise funds for the creation of a permanent art venue, ensuring
that future generations of park visitors will be able to view the collections
of Grand Canyon National Park and the Grand Canyon Association , which are not
currently on display. And this year, GCA is hoping to reach even more people by
bringing artists to paint on the North Rim for the first time.

The 3rd Annual Grand Canyon Celebration of Art is
presented by the Grand Canyon Association on behalf of the Grand Canyon
National Park. Major support is provided by our sponsors. We thank them for
their generous contributions.

                              When: Saturday, June 18 - Saturday, June 25, 2011

Where: South and North Rims of Grand Canyon
National Park

For eight days in June, you can explore the
wonders of the night sky on Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim with the
Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association and on the North Rim with the Saguaro
Astronomy Club of Phoenix.

You will have the chance to view the planet
Saturn along with a wide assortment of star clusters, galaxies, and nebulae by
night, and perhaps also the sun or the planet Venus by day.

Grand Canyon is one of the best night sky
observing sites in the United States because it has some of the darkest skies
and cleanest air in the country!

                              June's South Rim Artists-in-Residence

In June there will be back-to-back
artists-in-residence at the South Rim, Aubrey Atwater and Liz Roth.

                              From May 29 - June 15, we're hosting folk
musician and dancer, Aubrey Atwater, from Rhode Island. Aubrey is self-taught
on Irish tin whistle, Appalachian mountain dulcimer, old-time banjo, mandolin,
as well as American clogging and French-Canadian "foot clapping." While
in-residence, Aubrey will present two public performances on the rim and one at
Phantom Ranch. Her rim programs are scheduled as evening performances at McKee
Amphitheater at 8:00 p.m. on June 3rd and June 10th; her Phantom Ranch
performance is scheduled for June 6th.

From June 16th - July 9th, we are pleased to host
painter, Liz Roth. Liz is an award-winning, nationally and internationally
exhibited artist and arts educator from Oklahoma. While in-residence, Liz will
present an evening program artist talk about her United States-inspired,
environmentally inclined paintings. Her program will be at McKee Amphitheater
at 8:00 p.m. on the night of June 27th.

For more information or to contact either artist,

Jack Hanna Thrills Huge Crowds at Celebrate
Wildlife Day

On Saturday, May 7th, Grand Canyon National Park
celebrated wildlife. The day's events included interpretive programs about
ravens, reptiles, mountain lions, the endangered humpback chub, and California
condors, and an open house with rehabilitated animals brought by Adobe Mountain
Wildlife Center.

The event's highlight was wildlife expert, Jack
Hanna, sharing his knowledge and passion for animals. Hanna presented three
programs to almost 900 people. "We learn about animals because we care for
them," he said. "It's about love, that's why we are here."

Celebrate Wildlife Day was created to honor the
life of Eric York, a Grand Canyon wildlife biologist who died in 2007.

We hope you will join us for next year's
Celebrate Wildlife Day on May 5, 2012.
