Debbie, good story, been there before but there is a twist. After checking out the moon, with lunar filter, went to Orion and it was just a terrible site. Changed eyepieces and got what I expected. Not really knowing what was going on, went back to first eyepiece and ... and ... and got the same terrible site. Soon I discover the lunar filter was still in the eyepiece. After its removal the Milky Way back in harmony again ... Thought this is great for a cloudy night. aimed at Orion nebula & clear, but I wanted a more close up & personal view. Changed eyepieces. smaller view.but ahhhh. 7 nag hits the spot. A nyway. went back to the moon. M oral of the story. don't forget to put a filter on each eyepiece you use, ops or you'll go blind, even on a cloudy day you can see forever or loose your eyesight...esrom my Verizon Wireless LGVX10000 device. -----Original Message----- From: Skylook123@xxxxxxx Sent: 2/28/2010 2:30:09 PM To: az-observing@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [AZ-Observing] Re: El Nino--phooey Steve, I feel your pain. In the grand scheme of things, El Nino will go hide again, and stay there longer than he's on the scene. I just hope he goes on his time-out before the All Arizona Messier Marathon. Lots of growing bushes and I got to thinking about how pretty the flowers on the saguaros will be in a couple of months. Being a long time member of the Saguaro Astonomy Club, it will be great to see our namesake in blossum. However, being the owner of a new (at least new to me) 9.25 inch Celestron SCT, I would like a chance to USE my new scope, for at least a few nights. I am certain that people in Flagstaff would like to get a chance to rest from shoveling snow and maybe view some stars. I am sitting in my RV writing this and the sound of the rain on the roof is quite loud. This whole "El Nino" thing has got to stop; Steve Coe -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list. -- See message header for info on list archives or unsubscribing, and please send personal replies to the author, not the list.
