SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT The June 2009 general membership meeting for The East Valley Astronomy Club (EVAC) is scheduled for 7:30 PM on June 19th, 2009. The Location is the Gilbert Regional Library, at the SE corner of Greenfield Road and Guadalupe Rd in Gilbert, Arizona. This location is about 1.5 miles south of US60 on Greenfield Rd. The meeting runs from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM. Visitors are welcome. Map information can be found at: http://evaconline.org/mtg.html The scheduled feature speaker is Ted Dunham of Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff. Mr. Dunham works with instrumentation for observing occultations with SOFIA, and is also a team member on the recently launched, and activated NASA Kepler Mission. He will be speaking to EVAC members and visitors on the Kepler Mission status. Background on the Kepler Mission can be found at: http://kepler.nasa.gov/ Additionally, Brian Dewelles, the Meade Sales Representative for Arizona, will be presenting the newly released ETX-LS [LightSwitch] 6" SC type telescope. This telescope is now being shipped to dealers around the country. Brian will have one of these telescopes with him for the pre-break presentation, and will be available for questions during the break period. Following the speaker, Brain will have the telescope setup at the GRCO observatory, adjacent to the library, for those that would like to examine it further.
