It makes a huge difference what kind of tire you have. Some years back I
went through 3 tires in about 6 months - wife was taking new car on dirt
roads- and took the car to Sears on a whim; the guy there immediately said
I had street tires; I upgraded to heavier tires (more plies) and the
problem went away!


I am not a real native Arizona off-roader.  But do own some off-road
dark-sky property both in California and southwest of Seligman.

Drive a AWD Subaru.

Keys are
  1. "Light truck" tires
  2.  When in doubt, drive really slowly.
