I went out tonight around 830pm and observed 2000 WM1 (LINEAR) through Celestron 9x63 Ultima binoculars (hand held, but resting against the side of a vertical post). It was fainter than I expected it to be, but this was my first observation of it. I was not able to see any brightening, just a diffuse glow that appeared to have a fan shape to it. At first, I tried to locate it using the finder chart in the latest Sky & Telescope, but I couldn't see anything but stars. I then got my laptop computer with 'The Sky' (Software Bisque) and was able to find the proper star field. Now that I knew exactly were to look, I was able to spot it with averted vision and eventually with direct vision. This was from Chandler with a fair amount of light pollution coming from Tempe.
