We had 4 people at our little impromptu star party at Cherry II Saturday night June 4. Cherry had the three C's for good observing, clear calm and cold. Unfortunately, the 'c'-ing was terrible and it was quite turbulent all night. Saturn looked like the Goodyear blimp at one point. And a little too cold at a low of 42 degrees by 3 am. Present were Dwight Bogan, Bob Christ, and one person who showed up for 20 minutes before his wife ordered him home before I got his name. With the help of Bob's map, we were able to find the super-nova in M51 through my 20-inch and Bob's Celestron 11" SC. Dwight caught it in his APO and may have imaged it. Quite prominent in a line with three dominant stars (or h-alpha regions) superimposed on the arms of the galaxy, S side (opposite from the companion).
