...or maybe: do your observing now! The latest
medium-term climate forecasts issued today by the
NWS climate group continue the previous trend of
suggesting a possibly-wet winter in the Southwest
due to a weak-to-moderate El Nino.
In combination with other effects, they are also
suggesting a delayed monsoon that will extend into
autumn (no autumn dry season?) due to warm sea-surface
temperatures off the California and Mexico coasts,
then persisting into the wet winter. We thus could
be in for a generally cloudy several months starting
later this summer.
     Details are here:

.....with the text discussion linked from the second URL.
The text tells more about Pacific sea-surface temperatures
than you're likely to want to know, but also describes
the weighting of the various models and trends affecting
climate.
