Only six miles from Mount Wilson Observatory is Stony Ridge Observatory, which
houses a 30-inch telescope. The facility and scope were constructed by a team
of amateurs in 1957. Stony Ridge Observatory was threatened by the Station
Fire, and was written about in this LA Times story.

The good news from this morning on the Stony Ridge Web site is that the
observatory did not burn.

The story quotes John Sousa as one of the surviving members of the team of 15
who built the observatory, and mentions that he lives in Phoenix. Does anybody
know him?
