Hi Jim,

I had heard that the DX was basically the same as the CGEM, as far as the
electronics, but the tripod was larger and the Dec was a larger diameter to
carry more weight. I was hoping some had actually used the mount and could
shed some light as far as the accuracy compared to the Atlas EQG.

I believe the DX is the same mount as the CGEM but ...

- The tripod and mount interface to the Equatorial head are much larger and
supports a heaver load
- The counter weight shaft has a larger diameter and needs different weights

I have been told that the motor controlled can handle more drive torque but
it’s the same board. For me the CGEM is good enough. I purchased a tripod
spreader from Deep Space Products and added 10 pounds of weight to the
tripod.

Jim

Since no one can do any observing, lets talk about telescope mounts. Does
anyone have experience with the Celestron CGEM DX mount ? How is it as far
as pointing accuracy, polar alignment, tracking etc. I have heard that the
All Star alignment is good. I presently have an Atlas EQG , but am thinking
about a CGEM DX.
input please and thanks
