Sounds pretty inappropriate. Lowell has the right to name its own asteroids, 
but how about naming them after the 3000  9/11 victims?  And throw in a few 
famous murder victims like Abe Lincoln, Alexander Hamilton, Martin Luther King, 
Nicole Simpson, and then add a few "unfortunate" overdose victims, famous 
people like Jimi Hendrix and Elvis. Actually, I thought it was customary to 
name asteroids for mythological characters and astronomers, and in a rare case 
for the discoverer's cat. But not a non-astronomical shooting victim.
