It looks like the real event occurred last night, but don't rule out a display for tonight. I will be paying attention to the "Kp Index", which is plotted at a three-hour interval at: http://www.sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/kp_3d.html It reached 8 (on a 1 to 9 scale) during last night's aurora. Chris Schur has recently been trying to correlate aurora visibility from Payson with this index. I think he said he has picked them up photographically when it is as low as 6.
