Hi,

Susan and I enjoyed the All Arizona Star Party in spite of heat
during the day and those irritating tiny face-flies.

Saturday night was clear with relatively good seeing (not "great" but
better than from my back yard...)

I set up the 10" LX-200 with f/3.3 focal reducer and the ST-7XME
initially and
shot NGC6960 (part of the veil nebula) and NGC253, a relatively
easy-to-image
galaxy. I used HandyAvi to control the telescope and CCDSoft to control
the camera
from the laptop within our motor home.

Mars was up reasonably high when I finished with them so I switched to the
ToUcam Pro webcam and controlled it using HandyAvi. Set it up to
automatically
take 1000 frames every 15 minutes and used its planet centering mode to keep
mars centered in the camera view field. Took a nap while it captured
images.
About 2 AM, some clouds moved in so I shut it down. I believe the
clouds cleared
after that but I was tired...

Used HandyAvi to crop the movies, then used RegiStax to create still
images. Got
several still images at different time points. Used JASC Animation Shop
3 to create
a GIF movie from the still images.

Posted the movie and the other two images on my web site at:

Clouds moved in on sunday. They cleared some time during the night,
probably 1 or 2 AM. Don't know if anyone noticed. Think we were all
tired...

Had a couple of good pot luck dinners. Thanks Gwen and everyone
else who participated!
