Don't miss a great chance for stargazing.
Join us Oct 5-6 at the Hovatter Rd airfield site for a great weekend of fun
and observing. The rains look like they weren't that heavy at the site,
and the forecast is pretty good. Friday may be better than Saturday, but
the forecast is variable and hopefully the clouds push out till Sunday
afternoon. (and the wind stays low)
Our grand raffle prize is a good reason to show up. A Celestron NexStar
5SE (slightly used) has been donated. A great little portable scope than
can be yours for only the cost of a raffle ticket at 1 for $1 or 6 for $5.
Other great prizes as well.
Chili dinner on Saturday is only $5. Be sure to arrive early for the
Temperance Union Happy Hour at 4. The raffle is at 4:45, and dinner is at
5. Sunset is about 6pm, with snacks and coffee at 10pm.
During the day, the Superstition Rocket Society will be launching small
rockets - It is too close to I-10 for big ones. Several of them are
astronomers as well, so it shouldn't be an issue for the evening.
If you are leaving early, please park closer to the entrance, and remember
to drive slowly. The rain has probably settled the dust a bit, but it
really helps to slow down.
See you there
