My notes usually say, "neat object",=20 "faint smudge", "better than the Wray photo", etc. I was once observing some nondescript NGC cluster in the Milky Way with = my=20 long f /6.7 12.5". Steve Coe walked past, sighted briefly along the=20 telescope, and said, "Ah, you must be looking at NGC xxxx (whatever it was)".=20 He was right. Great to know such superb observers of the visible universe.
