Not having seen the pdf attachment referenced in Andrew's note, I'm not sure I understand his proposal. If the entire forest is being closed, and the site we want to use is within the forest, we are going to ask for an exception to the closure? I was unaware that such a process exists. If we are granted an exception, will all rangers be aware of it? Are we likely to be asked to leave if 'discovered' by a ranger not privy to our exception? My opinion is that they are closing the forest for a reason. Granted, our group isn't likely to engage in any of the activities associated with the start of man-made fires... but we would be in the group of recreationists to be evacuated that is also part of the reason for closure. I think we should make plans for a site outside of the Coconino. The question is how much and does our track record count for anything. Or do we move it to Cherry Rd II? Does this also mean that the Gcsp is also effected? I think the board should get involved.
