[AZ-Observing] 5 Mile Meadow - Directions

Steve Coe or anybody who has been up to 5 Mile Meadow,
Just so I don't get lost :o), I would appreciate a clarification on your
directions as posted back in August.

down to look for a dirt road on your left. The sign for this road says "Bar
D Ranch". You will know you are on the correct forestry road by two brown
signs, a small one with number 229 and another, larger, with Bar D Ranch

Looking at the road maps, AZ Gazetteer and AZ R&R Atlas, it appears that you
mean we should turn left off FR3 (Lake Mary Rd) onto FR229D which is about
12 miles from Clints Well. Correct?? About 2.5 miles further north on FR3
(14.5 miles from Clints Well) is another left turn onto FR229 which then
appears to merge with FR229D. It probably doesn't make any difference
whether we take FR229D or FR229 off FR3 but I'm asking just to make sure.
I also mention this because the road map posted on EVAC's website has FR229
drawn in a darker color making it look like folks are supposed to turn left
off FR3 onto FR229, not FR229D. Using FR229 instead of FR229D will
eliminate an extra mile or so of dirt road which might be good if that
stretch of FR229D is bad.
