Vesta is magnitude 5.6 tonight. For a month surrounding tonight, its
brightness is within a few tenths of a magnitude of the peak. I wouldn't
want to be the person responsible for describing where to find it to those
with little knowledge of the sky.
For those of us with some knowledge of constellations, it is halfway between
Saturn and Eta Ophiuchi, which is the "lower left corner" star in Ophiuchus.
But don't confuse Vesta with 58 Ophiuchi, which is a half magnitude brighter
and a degree to the south. You could always look at the general field, and
say what Steve Coe would say: "photons from that object have struck my eye."
