"The third asteroid discovered, by Karl L. Harding on 1804-09-01, reached opposition last Saturday night Arizona time. Here's a link to a 14-frame animation showing the retrograde motion of the asteroid at 15 minute intervals as seen from Sonoran Desert National Monument that night. Each exposure was five minutes taken with a Canon 400D at ISO 800 through a Synta 80 mm f/7.5 ED refractor. The faintest stars visible are about magnitude 16.5. The asteroid itself was about magnitude 10.2 according to XEphem." The link, of course, was in the first message.
