Pam, That's a thoughtful, loving, and more personal expression of our sense of loss of Jim than I could ever imagine. Thank You. Ken >>> "Fischer, Pamela (OKL)" <Pamela.Fischer@xxxxxx> 1/18/2011 12:36 PM >>> AS I wrote on the condolences website, I am heartbroken to learn of Jim's death. He was one of my favorite people. Not only was a leader in VA Psychology and other professional endeavors, he was a kind and honorable man who loved his family and never failed to share stories of his kids and grandkids when I saw him. As George mentioned, Jim's sense of humor and life perspective could lift the mood in any situation. I hope he is driving his sports car with the top down and the rock and roll music playing someplace....... He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Pam Fischer Pamela C. I came to know Jim through mutual friends in AVAPL and served with him this year and last on our AVAPL Executive Committee. He was passionate about Psychology, AVAPL, and working for Veterans and VA. Jim was a deliberative thinker and a careful and devoted leader who was deeply and warmly committed to his colleagues and friends. After serving as Secretary for AVAPL for three years, Jim was elected President last year. Jim was going to be an outstanding President. Jim was Chief of Psychology in Dallas, a member of the Clinical Board for ABPP, a member of the Executive Committee of the VA Training Council, and was widely respected for his achievements and for his contributions to Psychology. As serious as he could be about professional issues and responsibilities, Jim could be counted on to bring levity to any group with an often self-deprecating, always quick wit. For those of us who knew him well, memories of Jim's many puns and quips will forever put a smile on our faces. Jim was a wonderfully kind and thoughtful man, and a dependable friend. We will miss him dearly. Sincerely, George Shorter, Ph.D. President, AVAPL "The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional as to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their country." -George Washington ********************************************************** Electronic Mail is not secure, may not be read every day, and should not be used for urgent or sensitive issues
