Call myself a grammar pedant?

It should be "makes me wince as much as it does the next grammar pedant" but that just sounds ridiculous, does it not?

"Could of" makes me wince as much as the next grammar pedant but I think it's unfortunate that it seems to suggest things about a person when it means so little. I have a friend who writes "could of" and occasionally inserts an apostrophe before the s in a plural (I find that one slightly fascinating). An amazing person, she's a mother of four, including two young children, who founded and was key organiser of two groups: one that stopped AGL's gas expansion in Western Sydney and the other that stopped the waste-to-energy incinerator in Eastern Creek.

Regards,
Petra
