This doesn't (as far as I know from memory) show "Char" corruptions as well as
the Organiser from the Templates and Add-ins window - and I have no idea why...

To get to the Styles Organiser window in Word 2007, you show your styles pane
(click the little arrow under the Change Styles button) and then click the
Manage Styles button at the bottom of that pane. It's the third of the three
buttons. You can also click the Import/Export button in that window to import
styles from another stylesheet.

Hi Varuna.
You need to check a few things.
First: I wouldn't mind betting you have some "Char" or character corruptions in
the template, so clean them out using the Organiser window found via the
Templates and Add-ins dialog.

I have placed that button in the Quick Access Toolbar now and have no idea how
to get to that dialog window, it has been buried in the application and I used
help every time I needed the damn thing - search for it using "Templates and
Add-ins", and scroll down the results - they deliberately don't allow it to
come to the top; it is pure ignorant bastardry on the part of MS developers...

Second: Open the "Styles and Formatting" window.
Go to Normal and modify the style to the font "Calibri." I would be changing
that to be set for new documents based on this template - I can't recall the
exact wording and don't have 2007 here at present.

(Ignore if you know Word backwards already). So what that does is set your
default fonts in most of the internal, default styles to the font you want,
because Normal style is the base from which most styles are built from in MS
Word. Normal is the 'foundation stone' if you like for styles. Note that other
internal styles may have been modified and you may have to change them as
required.

Third: Check and modify the custom styles you are using in the document to suit
your needs, and check them for consistent choices like fonts and so on. Also
check the "style for following paragraph" setting - this may be the source of
all your problems, especially if there are "Char" corruptions.

Also check that the styles you are using, especially ones that have been
created by other template or document users are not "based on" (this is a
setting in the top right corner of a Style window) the "Body Text" style, but
are based either on "Normal" or - "No style". The "No style" setting is
particularly useful for list styles, it will help prevent cascade effects when
you are learning how to use MS Word's more powerful and much more useful style
tools within list settings.

These three things will probably solve the problems you are experiencing. And
give you back a lot of the power you feel you don't have... I like power,
especially with Word, it gives you a greater appreciation for the small things
in life - like the minds of MS software developers, and reduces any sympathy
you might have had for them.

Subject: atw: word 2007 (font problem)
Hi All,

I am having a problem with Fonts in word 2007. The template I created is based
on a Master template which was provided by the company. The default font has to
be Calibri.

But whenever I press enter in a section, title or sub heading to start a new
sentence,a paragraph etc, the font changes to Garamond. I have tried to set the
default font as Calibri from Font group. And tried couple of other things, but
when ever I press enter again.. the same thing happens.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks
varuna
