Thanks Margaret,

Gives me something to work with! I learnt excel a long time ago and my
brain is not cooperating with its logic!

I can't think how to do that directly, but there are 2 round about
ways...

1. Write a macro that applies the change to a specified or selected
column.

or

2. Create a new column next to the column you want to update.

  - In the first cell (after the heading) enter the function you want -
upper or lower, there is also a "proper" case change, and fill down.

That by itself might be enough to solve your problem, but you could then
copy the new column and "paste special" and choose values only to update
the data in the original column.

Hope this helps.

Margaret

Sorry - how do I do this to an entire column?

Rebecca :-)

Hi all,

Does anyone know a simple way to change the case of text in an excel
spreadsheet by column? Someone told me there is a formula for this but I
cannot find it anywhere :-)
