Dear Bill (Parker),

The big, Singaporean owned and local firm takeover-happy Pacific Internet's
idea of Spam "filtering" is really simply labelling. Rather than actually
intelligently filtering out the Spam they simply add messages to each
E-mail they think is Spam and send it on, such as:
>The Pacific Internet spam scanner believes that the attached message,

Fat lot of good that does.

Instead of actually removing the Spam, they just give me more k's of
downloads to pay for, plus they miss heaps of stuff that really is Spam.

They say that a lot doesn't get through but, as far as I'm concerned,
they're simply passing the buck at the expense of their customers.

The only good thing about this approach is that I can advise them if they
are labelling something as Spam that was solicited commercial E-mail, as in
the above example.

It's lackadaisical and half-hearted approaches to Spam control such as this
that only makes the problem so much worse for everyone, except for the ISPs
and the Spammers, who must be raking it in.

Regards,

Michael Granat
