Hi Kobus,
I had the same problem that was driving me crazy - I posted to the
microsoft.public.word.numbering newsgroup and a woman who has her own
website, Shauna Kelly, at http://www.shaunakelly.com/word (she has a page on
numbering) suggested I go to Tools/Templates and Add-ins, and uncheck the
Automatically Update Document Styles box. My numbering was part of an
Outline Numbering system using styles so I don't know if this will work for
you but you can always try it. Obviously, if the box is already unchecked
then styles automatically updating is not the source of your problem.
