  Just because you are using a recordable CD that you use for
  backups elesewhere doesn't mean that the drive on the PC
  that you are using right now is actually a CD writer (it
  might only be a reader).

  Also, the IT policy at where you are / for that PC might
  disallow writes to removable media.
