Subject: atw: Inviting you to a webinar in May about open source docs and the
Season of Docs program
Hallo austechies
You're invited to an online webinar on Wednesday, May 15, focusing on open
source documentation. The webinar is hosted by Write the Docs AU and Write the
Docs India.
I'll be talking about Season of Docs, which is a Google program that I think
many APAC tech writers may find interesting. Season of Docs sets up a framework
for open source projects to invite technical writers to work on the projects’
documentation for a few months. Technical writers bring their documentation
expertise to the open source project of their choice. In return, mentors from
the open source organisation help the technical writer gain an understanding of
their open source community, processes, tools, and code.
In my talk, I'll explain a bit about open source and docs. Then I'll describe
the format and goals of Season of Docs, including why tech writers may want to
take part. And I'll let you know how you can take part if you're interested.
In the second talk of the webinar, Damini Satya will talk about her experiences
with open source projects.

The FAQ page has a lot of good info.
Here's a blog post I wrote when the Season of Docs program was announced in
March:
