You may think you can send unabbreviated SMSs, but some ISPs will truncate your sent message without advising you. You think your receiving end has received all your transmitted message - but it hasn't. This leads to frustration. My preferred solution is generally to ignore SMS messages and to type in STOP as the reply. To some, I plan to use other four-letter words. To me, the SMS technology is good for people who wish to exchange messages of absolutely no value whatever. It is also a great money sucker for telcos.
