I have a client seeking a senior technical communicator to work in the local development office of a major US-based software company. Start date is ASAP. The Sydney development group is responsible for several large-scale products that run on Windows and Unix platforms. Typical users are banks, insurance companies, and government agencies. The work entails development of new documents and maintenance of existing documents, for technical people (customisation, installation, etc), system administrators, and end users -- so the successful applicant will have had exposure to a wide range of IT activities. Development processes use J2EE, ASPs, and other current tools; the ability to at least read and understand Java would be a distinct advantage. The primary documentation tool is unstructured FrameMaker. This senior role also involves giving professional leadership to less experienced writers, as well as contributing to the development of documentation standards and processes. If you haven't sent us your resume in the last month or so, and you are interested, please send your resume PDQ. If we do have your current resume, please provide details of your availability.
