Multi User Dungeons.  Muds.  Thus playing muds, mudding.  A person telnets into 
a given game, although many of them offer browser access now, browsers to mud 
are slow because of the java involved.  They are text based games.  So you type 
to have your character do stuff like move around or kill, but there is also a 
chat component too so you can type to chat to other players, or type in other 
modes for your caricature to interact either with other player’s caricatures or 
the mobs that are in the game.  

It’s at least usually a blind friendly gaming environment since they are text 
based, as apposed to graphical based
