Press pause at the beginning of the silence and then left square bracket and then press the space bar. Press space bar to play to the end of the silence and then press pause again. Press the right square bracket followed by the space bar. You now have the silence selected. You can press c to hear how it sounds with the selected part omitted. Finally, press the delete key and it should be good.

 space bar.

Hello fellow Audacity users:
I have to be honest when I tell you, that Audacity is beginning to frustrate me. I have a small group of files in a project, that have been spliced together, and I'm now trying to remove the long pause of silence that audacity appears to have placed between the tracks. I've tried placing a left cursor at the point in the audio, where the audio stops, and a right cursor or (marker), at the other end, just before the audio starts up again and press control K to delete the block of silence between the two cursors. But I just can't seem to get rid of the silence. The file is currently still in the wav format. I've tried exporting the whole thing to mp3 and doing the same steps I've mentioned above, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. I know I did everything correctly, when I placed the cursor at the end of the files when I imported them. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
