Glad it worked.

You could try going into the volume control and lowering the JAWS volume. It
should show up as I’s own slider.

Failing that, you could try adding a compressor effect to boost quiet parts
after the recording is finished. I’m not very good with that particular effect
though, so someone else might have to give you pointers.

Thanks tony...

That did the trick!!!

Now I am recording me and jaws together.

My voice comes in quiter then the jaws voice.

If I amplify, then I sound good and Jaws is to loud.

Do you have a trick that can make my voice and jaws record at the same level.

I feel like a pest, thanks again for all you guys and your patience and
kindness that you have show me on this list...

Jim,

Go to Start and type Sound. Under the Control Panel row header you should see
“Sound” press enter.

Switch to the recording tab.

Find your microphone input in the list view. Tab to Properties and press ENTER.

Switch to the Listen tab.

Check the Listen to this device checkbox.

Tab, and select the soundcard that JAWS plays through as the device to listen
through.

Locate and activate the OK button on this dialog, and on the original Sound
dialog.

In Audacity, select “Stereo Mix” from the JAWS soundcard as your recording
source.

The trick here is making sure your microphone can be heard through the same
soundcard that JAWS is coming through. Then you can record them both.

OK, time for help.

When I choose stereo mix in the preferences of audacity, I record Jaws only.

Please tell me what the imput and output devices should be set to, both in the
sound dialog and in the audacity program.

In the sound dialog, recording tab, do I check the box in the stereo mix, to
use this device, I am confused with whick one to check.

Also, my windows sounds and music go out through my Bose usb audio, Jaws uses
my sound card, you see two sets of speakers.

Let me try to simplify my question.

In the sound dialog, use this device checkbox, which device do I check to use?
if I understand correctly, the answer is the stereo mix.

Also, in that stereo mix dialog, which device is the playback device.

In audacity preferences which is the record device, the stereo mix I believe,
what do I set the playback device to?

Thanks again from a new user of audacity.

I am running windows 7, 32 bit, latest Jaws, Jaws is using the sound card of my
computer, music and windows sounds come out of the bose usb speakers.

I went to the acer sight and checked for an updated sound card driver and found
a realtech sound driver.

Hi Jim
This is an e-mail I replied to other person afiew week ago.
If you use Windows vista or 7, do the folowing step
Open control panel
Open sound
Navigate to recording page
Tab to the list view, and hit the application key
Down arrow to the options called show disable devices, and press enter. You
should see the stereo mix in the list. Note
If you hear: show disable devices check, then you don't need to hit enter.
Not all sound card have stereo mix, so don't worry if you don't see it in the
list
Hope that help.

Hi Jim
If your sound card have stereo mix, do the folowing step
Go to audacity preferences (ctrl+p).
At the tree view, choose devices.
Tab until you hear Jaws says: recording device.
Use arrow key and choose stereo mix, and press enter to save settings. Remember
to check the "listen to this device" in the properties of the microphone. after
checking this, you'll hear your voice through the head-phone, and you'll be
able to record using stereo mix.
Hope that help.
