yes I need to buy something and I talked to guy in music store about
the mixer and wires. I think if can afford will go with this plus get
earphones also with microphone lost while moving several years ago. I
need earphones and microphone anyway. I do have one for a phone but
wrong jack for a computer may fit mly ipad don't know yet have to
check. Thanks will see you  Andrew I hope at five on the phone thanks.

Probably yes to do anything serious.  If your computer has separate mike and
earphone sockets you could plug in a set of earphones and use the internal
mike.  If your computer is one of the new breed that combines the earphone
and mike jack and you have a set of earphones that include a microphone such
as those that come with iPhones etc, that would work.  While neither option
would give earth-shattering quality, it would at least provide some
familiarity.

So am I right have to wait for that mixer before doing overdubbing?

Karen, press shift-r to record on a second, third etc track.  Default
settings should let you hear existing track(s).  As you recognised,
with just your internal mike it would pick up existing track(s) so not
viable.

How do I record on two or more tracks. I want to record one than
listen while I record another on top second track while  listening. I
pressed control r and won't go to second track and when I tried to do
that got to second track couldn't hear the first one how do I adjust
so I can hear first tradck while playing recording the second? Thanks
