Hi Don, during playback, you can press the [ and ] keys to specify the start and end of a selected time range. If you haven't already done so, it's probably worth having a look at the jaws guide to audacity which is available at: http://bit.ly/fOYKxP The moving the cursor section and the selecting audio section are relevant. The click removal effect is available on the Effects menu, but I've not used it. Here's the manual page: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Click_Removal Not sure if this will get rid of opening crisp packets, but others on the list may well be able to make other suggestions, David. ________________________________ From: Don Raikes <DON.RAIKES@xxxxxxxxxx> To: audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, 12 December 2011, 19:50 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: newbie: how do I remove spurious noise How do I place the left and right brackets? I use JAWS and like I said earlier, I am just getting started with audacity today. This is under Settings. On 12/12/2011 12:43 PM, Don Raikes wrote: Hello, I have an audio file (wma format) recorded as a monophonic recording. The file contains a harp and violin playing. Roughly 90 seconds into the recording there is a crackling noise similar to someone’s opening a chip bag. I want to remove this little noise, but since I just got started with audacity today, I am nt sure how to do this. Any tips would be appreciated.
