I have 14 files to which I'd like to combined into one long file. I've followed the directions that David describes in the guide he published about how to use Audacity. However, when I playback the file after splicing all the files, all the files play at once. Why does this happen? Is Is there something I'm doing wrong? Once I import all the files into the project in the order I want them to play, such as

A
B
C
D
ETC, I go to the top of the list and press enter on the top most file, then press K to move the cursor to the end of it, then press enter again to unselect it. I move down to the next file, and do the same thing. Then once I get to the end of the list, I go to the tracks menu and select the align menu, I then select align with cursor. They also have align with 0, align selection with end align with selection start ETC. Choosing align with cursor, seems to make the files all play at the same time, and if you've ever heard multiple files of spoken word play at the same time, it's sort of like listening to many different radio stations at once. This is a file to which I'm putting together for someone else, So, is there any way that I can fix this? Thanks.
