Hi Curtis
Can you give more detail as to what you did and what is not working? For
example, is your narration and the sound effect on separate tracks? Are you
familiar with the concept of selecting and deselecting tracks?

As both Robert and I mentioned, there are numerous ways of achieving what
you want to do. Here is one option.
1. Record your narration onto a track, perhaps leaving a pause for the mud
splat.
2. Press j to go to the beginning of the recording and record the mud splat
onto a separate track with shift-r.
3. Select the track with your narration and place the cursor after the
relevant word.
4. Deselect that track and select the track containing the mud splat.
5. From the tracks menu, press Enter on Align Tracks 6. Arrow down to
Start to Cursor/Selection Start and press Enter.
That will move the mud splat from the beginning of the recording to the
point after the relevant word. An alternative is simply to copy and paste
material to where you want it. Depending on the result you are aiming for,
that may or may not be effective.

For example I want to make a mud splat play after I say a certain
phrase, or make a clip of a song play after I say a certain word. The

Could you give some more background or a link to the tutorial.
What kind of sound, a gong within a podcast, your voice at the fading out
of some intro music etc?
There are lots of ways to do it, depending on how the whole project is laid
out.

Robert
