Thanks Sean, I will follow your tips and see how it goes. I hope to get started with my podcasting over the holidays. -----Original Message----- From: Sean Paul [mailto:newsandtraffic@xxxxxxx] Sent: Friday, December 16, 2011 6:03 AM To: audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: getting started with podcasting Don, I am doing a community orientated Podcast & I am not recording jaws at all. I am actually recording using an external recorder, my iPhone then bringing the file in to audacity to create the podcast. I did use audacity to mix down my music track & fade it out where I wanted it faded out. I have learned a great deal about Podcasting by listening to other podcasts about podcasting. I don't have the exact links in front of me but if you'll use our friend Google & google the following. You'll find them. Lots of great tips found on these. Most of which I agree with. Others however I do not. Google the following. The Audacity to Podcast The Podcasters Studio. Podcast Quick Tips. The School of Podcasting. Hope that helps. If I can do anything further to help you, please feel free to let me know. &, keep in mind I've only recorded one episode & still am learning things as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don Raikes" <DON.RAIKES@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2011 18:51 Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: getting started with podcasting At the moment the only microphone I have is the one that is part of my webcam and is therefore usb connected. I haven't even installed the software for it yet. I just had to rebuild this pc over the last week. -----Original Message----- From: David Bailes [mailto:david_bailes@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2011 6:22 AM To: audacity4blind@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [audacity4blind] Re: getting started with podcasting Hi Don, just to point out that an alternative to first recording the jaws track, and then to record the narrative track is to record them in the same track. To record Jaws you need to set the input to "what you hear" or "stereo mix" or something along those lines. If you have a microphone which plugs into your soundcard, rather than a usb microphone, then you might be able to set the sound card so that it plays the microphone out to the output (hardware playthough), so that you can record jaws and your voice at the same time. The details of setting the hardware playthrough depend on the version of windows you're using. If you want to try this, and need help with the settings, then let me know. My goal would be to record JAWS as I perform various tasks demonstrating how to use some software I am testing for accessibility, then to add a track with my comments and narrative. I saw that Sean Paul was doing something similar, or at least from the last couple of email posts it sounded that way. Are there any tutorials/getting started documents on the web somewhere I should look at before I get started?
