Yah. You could always keep track of the time and purposefully dive out at 38
minutes (or whatever) so you know that situation won’t happen.
I have a pro Zoom account through work so I don’t have your issue. I also use
Teams at work and I’m pretty sure it is free. Not sure if you can record each
persons tracks individually in Teams. I’m not a big fan of Teams because of the
user interface but, well, it works. It works _really_ well on my iPhone
especially.
Personally, if I were doing a podcast, I would have each person on the call
record their own audio and send it to the person who is skilled (and/or
interested) in learning how to synchronize those files. You’ll always get
better final products if you record locally then have someone synchronize the
files from each of your attendee’s.
One last suggestion: Make sure all of your peoples on the meeting are using
something other than the internal microphone on their laptops. It’s much more
difficult to clean up audio after the fact. Each person on your podcast should
know how to control their own audio levels, etc.

I know your thoughts. But once I attended a meeting where everyone got
disconnected after 40 minutes – and a person was in the middle of saying
something when it broke, and it was a pity because by the time I got
reconnected, what he said was either not heard or was lost. And so for
smoothness of flow and all that, I don’t think 40 minutes a piece would be a
good solution.

Curious how long you expect the podcast to be? I think 40 minutes is a pretty
good amount of time, especially when you get the benefit of having each person
on their own track in Zoom.
If you want it longer than 40 minutes you could always start a new meeting.
