This is why I rolled back to the previous version of Windows. I use
Audacity quite extensively and can't afford to put up with the
constant crashing.

You have much more faith in computerkind than I do (smile). I have a
ship's anchor here which I use for testing. Last week I upgraded it to
Windows Creators to see what I could break. Having just done a test
with ctrl-w to close an Audacity project, all went well. It was only a
few seconds of recording, which may have made life easier for the
system. I am also using a USB mixer which doesn't use any tricky drivers.

Microsoft did a windows 10 update on my laptop yesterday morning. Now I

If I finish working with an Audacity project and use Control+W, the
program closes the project then crashes. It gives me a error message that
windows is looking for a solution to my problem which is followed by a
"close" button.
I never had this kind of problem before. I could open and close projects
all day long without any problems.
I reinstalled Audacity and reset my preferences back to the defaults, but
the problem persists. I did not do a complete uninstall of Audacity
assuming damaged files or settings would be repaired.
Any thoughtsthe about what is going on here or how to fix it. I am using
JAWS 18.
Thanks,
John
