Different microphone?

Not really related, but, a pseudo-trick I have found to work with my one
microphone - nothing close to real recording equipment - is a standard PC voice
microphone, and to be able to distinguish things like the sounds of my
different drum tom-toms, I record at lowish levels - 40% or less, and then
boost the volume afterwards, and it seems to help/work better then.

Stay well

  Hi
I know how to remove noise, but I want to find the solution to prevent it
while record.
  Thank you.

Not sure what's causing it, but, if you can find a piece of recording that
just has noise in it, select something like a second or two of that piece, and
under effects, look for noise reduction, and use the initially focused button
to sort of evaluate/match what counts as noise, then select whole track, bring
up noise reduction again, and apply it - haven't used it for a little while,
but, for example, it took out background noise from LP recordings for me.

    Stay well

      To all listers
my company has a studio for recording book and magazine. Now I see a
problem, that the recorded file sometimes has noise like we turn on the fan
while recording. I turned off my microphone, and record. It still have a noise
sound. Are there anything i need to check?
Using a desktop with windows 8 professional 64 bit, latest audacity, and
the audio Technica ATR 2100 microphone. The mic plugged directly into the USB
port.
      Thank you.
