Hello.
Aup files are not audio files. They are files that only Audacity reads.
These aup files contain text written information about the project. If
you want to split your project, you may first have to export selected
tracks and time ranges out to wav or mp3 files. Then, build a new
project with the same information, or make the changes to the existing
one, where the 2 split parts are now together. I hope that is usefull,
