Hi,
Very interesting indeed.
The tones themselves are sine waveforms, and had it not gone through a series
of straight octave changes I would have called it an arpeggiated harmonic
sequence. As it happens I have never heard that sequence before, on tape or
otherwise
The only tones I have heard are the really low tones that are meant to serve as
a marker to cue-and-review enabled tape players and sometimes used by autotrack
tape players. I’m guessing that sequence has a similar functionality, some kind
of unique marker, but I doubt an auto system would look for that.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Damien.

Subject: [audacity4blind] What Is The Exact Name Of This Tone
Or rather, series of tones? I usually hear these on some of the tapes I have,
at the beginning and end of each side. What do those tones do?
